I got the new Coldplay CD today and I feel let down.
The tunes are good, but I reckon they could have given more.
There’s 14 tracks on the album – 3 are less than 50 seconds in length.
The booklet has got a some pics of graffiti and the standard couple of band shots.
Boring.
Here’s the thing … these days, even on a modest marketing budget it’s damn easy to create value for your customers.
On a big marketing budget (a Coldplay-sized budget) it’s dead simple. In fact, it’s expected.
So, what could they have included to offer greater value?
- Song lyrics.
- Videos of live performance.
- Videos of interviews.
- More interesting pics.
- Video of them recording the album.
- Image gallery.
Now, I don’t want to sound like a tight-arse here - after all, I paid just $16 for this piece of art. But it’s so easy these days for any business / band / charity to offer high perceived value at a low production cost. What do you think? Do you do it in your business?
